Chapter 26

Day 237-Nala Strikes-Amber

“Nala?” I ask, taking a step forward.

Her eyes turn towards me, and disgust fills her face. “What do you want?”

“Why are you doing this?” My question makes her snort with laughter.

“Void has shown me the truth of this world. It is you. All of you that have betrayed this world.”

Taking another step closer, I reach out to touch her. With a flick of her bow, she smashes my hand aside and glares at me. “You don’t deserve to touch me.”

The wolves growl deeper as their master resorts to anger. Marcus pulls me behind him, keeping his eyes on Nala. “Did you come to fight again?” he asks.

“I came to kill you!” she screams. Snapping her fingers, black chains spring up, ensnaring all of us.

The chains burn, causing us to scream as we struggle against their binding. A few seconds later they explode, destroyed by Marcus’s ability, God’s Aura.

Nala sneers as she pulls her bow free, and with a single arrow, she shoots Marcus in the chest. Faster than I can see, he catches the arrow before it strikes him and snaps it in two. “You’ll have to do better than that,” he says as he strolls towards her.

Snapping her fingers a second time, the wolves charge all of us. April roars and swipes her claws through the nearest one. With a yelp, the wolf falls still, melting into the ground before us. A few moments later, it rises from the same spot, uninjured and ready to fight.

I cast Squall over the field, hoping my lightning can help. Instead, I’m met with Laughter from Nala. “Did you really think your storm would be able to help you?” With a wave of her hand, she sucks in the clouds and redirects all the lightning and damage towards Marcus. With a grunt, he takes the blow, and a moment later, silver energy wraps around him, healing his burns.

Slamming an arrow into the ground, she redirects all of my Static Discharge strikes. The arrow absorbs everything, making me useless in this fight. Light grabs me and throws me over her shoulder as she floats into the air, away from the fight. Brial and I are safe as Nala lets us go.

Cassandra and April rush forward, attacking the wolves as quick as they can. Their claws tear them apart. Tallia joins in, her maul strong enough to crush the head of anything in her way. It doesn’t matter though. They melt into the ground before coming back, unharmed. Two more wolves leap into the clearing, bringing the total to six as Mavis joins the fight.

“I couldn’t outrun them,” she says.

Marcus frowns as he focuses on Nala. “Do you really think you can kill me?”

Nala laughs as Marcus approaches her. “I know I can.”

“Then you’re an idiot, and I’ll show you no mercy.”

I smile as Marcus bursts forward, snow flying up around him. Before Nala can react, his fist is slamming into her stomach and launching her back through a tree. With a crash, the remains of the tree fall to the ground, burying Nala.
